Charles Buying Coindesk?

Charles recently released a video expressing his interest in purchasing Coindesk, a leading crypto publication. Charles talks about "returning to journalistic integrity" as the main reason for his interest and mentions a possible $200M price tag.

JPG.store's CEO Blake Comes Under Fire

Blake has been one of the Cardano NFT community's most influential voices since his marketplace gained over 90% market share back in early 2022. He has now come under fire after another prominent influencer, Fettuccine, posted a thread on what he believes is his unethical behavior.

This has unsurprisingly sparked heated discussions within the community, most prominently on Twitter, as people try to make sense of the situation.

JPG Store Makes Updates

Speaking of JPG.store, the #1 Cardano NFT marketplace released some exciting updates this week. They officially released an NFT drop calendar and have now become yet another option for people trying to keep up with upcoming drops.

They also introduced a tokenized whitelist feature, where project creators can give WL spots to their community via NFTs. Apparently, more than one project claims to have done this first.

Finally, they had some fun with a meme competition, which seemed to be a much-needed break from the drama.

NMKR Adds Seaplanes & People

NMKR launched their Seaplanes collection, which will give multipliers for the NMKR Stake Pool, yesterday. Each NFT costs ₳60 and comes in 3 rarities: Gold (10%), Silver (30%), and Bronze (60%).

They are also growing their team, now adding Dr. Lingling Liu as their Head of Sports partnerships. This gives exciting insights into the team's vision and ambitions to grow outside the Cardano NFT space.

Tavern Squad Announces Professions

Tavern Squad is one of the most exciting Cardano NFT projects if volume and floor price growth is anything to go by. Project founder Knackfish joined me on a stream this past Tuesday to announce the next phase in their development: Professions.

DeadPXLz Announce 2023 Plans

The only P2E project in the top 10 all-time volume chart made a big announcement this week, highlighting their plans for 2023. Excitement continues to build for this project as they near the launch of their PXL Wars game.

Updates included new team members, collaborations, $DING, and trademark registration.

IOG Gives Overview of Cardano's Health

Expanding on their recent Essential Cardano Guide to the Ecosystem release last week, IOG posted a useful Twitter thread about the current state of Cardano, giving a great overview of what is being built on the blockchain.

Jellycubes Have Arrived

Jellycubes, the NFT collection by the Block Investment Group (BIG), has now minted all of its collection of 2.6k NFTs. Their second and final mint went smoothly with almost the entire supply being reserved for whitelisted holders.

BIG is perhaps the most high-profile alpha group in the Cardano NFT space and the excitement for Jelly was reflected in the secondary market.

Jungle Adds Portfolio Tracking

Jungle is one of the most comprehensive suites of Cardano NFT tools available. This week, they gave a sneak peek at their upcoming mobile portfolio design, where collectors will be able to keep track of their holdings.

Poki Adds Features

Speaking of portfolio tracking, Poki is one of the fastest-growing Cardano NFT apps that specializes in portfolio tracking. This week, they added a couple of useful features, allowing members to track tokens and staked NFTs.

Stale Sells his SpaceBudz to Fund PlanetPalz

Although perhaps a story about PlanetPalz, it was Stale's sale of his SpaceBudz that caused the most buzz around his latest tweet. In this thread, the former celebrity CNFT.io developer explains how he has been funding some of the PlanetPalz development, a project he is currently working on with his brother, by selling his SpaceBudz.

Goombles Releases More Details

Goombles is one of the most hyped projects in the Cardano NFT space these days. This week, they released some more information about their upcoming mint. Most notably, the mint will be reserved for whitelisted (Goomlist) members only, with a maximum of 3 NFTs per Discord user.

Helmies Gives Tribute to Jellycubes

Helmies is an upcoming collaboration collection between CardanoThor (Viking Squad) and Golden (Handies). On a recent stream with Jason (Jellycubes), Helmies founders Golden and CardanoThor received inspiration for their Jelly Helmie, which was revealed soon after.

Clay Nation Marketplace Launches

Clay Nation has released its Clay Market with useful features such as map integration, baked sorting, and $clay listings. The majority of the Clay Nation community was excited about the news, although some do not see the value in individual projects launching their own marketplaces.

KWIC Announces "Art of War" Event

Keyboard Warriors Internet Cafe (KWIC) will be hosting its first IRL event "Art of War" in Melbourne, Australia on April 29th this year. Real-life events are undoubtedly exciting for fans but critics point out that they have not always led to increased demand for the project's NFTs.

Mocossi Releases P2E Game This Month

Mocossi is one of the largest P2E projects on Cardano and will be launching its game on January 31st. In order to incentivize players, the team announced that they will be giving out triple rewards for the first month.

Wild Tangz Develops More Tools

Wild Tangz is one of the most popular utility-first Cardano NFT projects in the space and has been consistently releasing useful tools for holders since launching in June of last year. This week, they announced another useful tool in a collaboration with Clumsy Ghosts. Holders of 10 Wild Tangz and 1 Clumsy Ghost NFTs can now use the Transaction History tool to quickly get and organize their wallet's transaction history.

Soon after this announcement, the collection reached the ₳1M trade volume milestone on the secondary market.

Aeoniumsky Block 18 Drop Struggles

Many collectors and community members were left disappointed after they were kicked out of the Aeoniumsky Discord during the Block 18 mint. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the artist struggles with his mint but demand for his work has been rising consistently since he launched his Blocks series.

This is an end-of-the-world futuristic pirate-themed project with a heavy focus on lore and community engagement. The upcoming mint is for their Jar-O-Dirt NFTs, which will be a key to future treasure hunts. AI is used in the creation of their NFTs.

Market Update

The market has cooled down significantly after that wild beginning of the year. The price of ADA has gone up, making NFTs more expensive in real terms. Volume is down 24% from last week and trades are down 29%.

Nothing has changed in the big picture. Bulls are seeing signs of the bottom being in and pointing out trend reversals. Bears, however, are pointing out that we are in unchartered territory where the global economic environment is what will ultimately decide when the next bull run will commence. As of right now, there are many bearish macro factors and I would even argue that there is still a good chance we will enter a major economic recession this year.
