CardanoThor's Weekly Brew
Your 15-minute catch-up on the CNFT world as you enjoy a nice brew. Through research and help from my community, I bring you CNFT news, market analysis, the ArtBeat, underrated project feature, and my condensed overall thoughts of the week. Happy reading.
The Highlights
This week might have been quiet in terms of CNFT volume and prices, but it was anything but quiet in terms of drama.
Pavia had their second land sale on Wednesday the 24th in perhaps the most anticipated drop of the week. People were confused and unsettled when the official Pavia Twitter account created a poll asking followers to vote on how many plots would be sold during this sale. This happened after people had sent their ada and the 31k plots had sold out.
Due to unprecedented demand and millions owed in refunds, the Pavia team seems to have considered the option of sending the remaining plots instead of the refunds. Ultimately, the team decided to stick with the original plan, a decision that was generally celebrated by the community. To make things worse, it soon became clear that a large portion of the plots had been purchased using bots. The use of bots raised some necessary questions about improved minting mechanics.
New marketplaces have recently launched with smart contract functionality, including Adapix.io, Jpeg.store, and others. Unfortunately, these launches have been far from perfect as a vulnerability was discovered in their smart contracts earlier this week. Only the DeadPXLz and SpaceBudz marketplaces avoided this issue. This required users to delist all of their assets while these platforms updated their contracts. Listen to what JPEG.store founder had to say about the issue here. Adapix has suspended the ability to list new assets altogether with no further updates. If you use any of these smart contract marketplaces, please follow the latest updates for each marketplace to keep your assets safe.
Several 10K drops happened this week but many of them struggled. Nerds & Virgins, for example, sold only 2,904 out of their 10k collection.
However, against the odds and current market conditions, VeggieMates, Mocossi, and CryptoDino Saviors managed to sell all of their 10k available nfts this week.
DeadPXLz made some exciting progress last week and released their first demo of their upcoming Forge dApp, which will allow users to build their own PXL with their favorite type and attributes. If you are new to DeadPXLz, check out their whitepaper here.
Ugly Bros has established itself as a new force to be reckoned with in the CNFT space. They made a big announcement this past Friday announcing their upcoming Holiday drop, Season 2 drop date (March 27-28), random airdrops for S1 holders, and a couple of very interesting music collabs with Adey and Ed Calle.
Benjamin's Club announced the launch of Benjamin's Group, which will be open to all people. Benjamin's Club has quickly earned a good reputation for creating one of the most exclusive CNFT art collector's clubs and bringing in talented artists. I'm excited to have the co-founder of Benjamin's Club, Cash, on my Twitch stream this upcoming Wednesday at 6PM UTC where I will try to get some more details on the future of the project.
Alternative Press & Joel Madden announced a surprise collaboration drop with SpaceBudz and Clay Nation on Tuesday. The drop didn't last long as the 1950 magazine cover NFTs were sold out within a few hours.

Clay Nation followed their Whitepaper up with their Holiday plan which includes a campaign on London's iconic buses over the Christmas period. The team asked the community to help contribute towards covering the campaign expenses by launching their own Clay DAO.

HYPE Skulls announced a 2-week delay in their Vapor plans and their tweet below explains the reasoning behind that decision. Great things take time.
This Week
Ada Dolls S2 dropped this Monday for whitelisted S1 holders and is dropping Tuesday for the general public at 19:00 UTC. At only 25 ada, it offers a reasonable entry price for new Ada Dolls collectors.
We the People (WTP) Collection 7 drops on Tuesday, 4PM UTC. WTP is Joseph Miranda's first CNFT series and this drop marks an end of an era as the artist plans his next project; Digital Lowlifes.
Anna Hymas is an artist and illustrator who has been getting some attention among true art collectors in the space. After her successful sellout of her "Fortune Hands" collection, she announced the drop date of her next series "Painted Lady" to be this Thursday at 4PM UTC.
Old Money continues their unusual yet brilliant CNFT series with the last campaign material drop, the hoodro pin. Holders of all 3 campaign materials (poster, mug, pin) will be whitelisted for the $.2 main drop in December. Although happening this week, the exact date has not been announced.
Shockwaves CNFT is a collaborative project organized by the Masked on Buttons team, which aims to support the #TeamSeas ocean cleanup mission. Drop starts on Tuesday at 14:00 UTC. Each CNFT will cost 22 ada but you receive a 10 ada refund if you hold a participating project.

Market Analysis
Here are the numbers:
Total ada volume: 5.331 million (+12.6%)
Total CNFT volume: 24,799
Top 3 sales:
38k (Pavia)
35k (SpaceBudz)
33.9k (Pavia)
Average price
low: 148 (Tuesday)
High 191.7 (Friday)
The CNFT market has been quiet for most of November and it would have been even quieter if it hadn't been for the Pavia second land sale. This is no surprise given the general downtrend of $ADA, which wicked down to $1.42 this week. This has caused a significant decline in floor prices across the board with only a few exceptions.
Although a bit worrying for creators and short-term investors, this buyers' market has been a good opportunity for collectors to pick up some quality CNFTs at discounted prices.
Overachievers
Pavia (₳289 floor, ₳38k highest sale)
Ugly Bros (₳699 floor, ₳4.75k highest sale)
Ghostchain (₳126 floor, ₳1,250 highest sale)
Underachievers
DanoVerse (₳39 floor)
AP Special Cover (₳30 floor)
DarkLunars (₳17 floor)
The ArtBeat
There are some exciting artists entering the space either independently, through Benjamin's Club or similar communities, or as a team. Joseph Miranda and Anna Hymas drop their new collections this week but we also have several other exciting art collections currently minting:
Even though the Cardano ecosystem still has ways to go, more useful tools are emerging every week that reduce the barriers to entry for artists. Personally, I discover new galleries, art marketplaces, and communities almost daily.
The ArtBeat had its debut Twitter Space on Sunday, featuring STEEL (What Lies Within), Nebula Codex, and NANO Frames. We touched on many interesting topics, such as:
Marketing for art collections vs. traditional CNFT projects
The state of marketplaces and creator tools
Cardano's NFT art "niche"
Artists creating with scalability in mind
If you are an artist or like art CNFTs, tune in every Sunday at 6PM UTC on Twitter.
Undervalued
With the current dip in prices, blue-chip projects have become significantly cheaper compared to the usual mint prices, which have stayed relatively constant. This is why I suggest being pickier when minting new projects and spending on more stable pre-smart contract projects.
Yummi Universe
First on that list due to really low prices is Yummi Universe. With a floor below ₳200, it's a great opportunity to buy into one of the best 10k projects in the CNFT space.
Nebula Codex
On the art side, I want to highlight Nebula Codex. This collection was created by an electrical engineering professor and his student, both from Brazil. They use mathematical formulas to visualize chaos theory. It's a good example of some of the great generative art Cardano has to offer. More about them here.
