NFT News

Cardano Asking for Cheaper Mints

Cheaper mints dominated the Twitter discussions last week. With secondary market volume struggling and projects moving to other chains, many Cardano NFT collectors feel like recent mint prices have been too high. Others, especially experienced project creators, strongly disagree with that sentiment.

Several Big Twitter Spaces

We might be in a bear market, but the community seems to be bullish on Twitter Spaces, with several large ones being hosted last week and more to come.

JPG.store hosted a large cross-chain space focused on the upcoming NYC NFT event, and Charles hosted another space with the Cardano NFT community.

TapTools Releases NFT Data

TapTools, one of Cardano's most popular data analysis and portfolio tracker tools, added NFT data to their platform, which can be found in a separate tab on their front page.

BlockOwls Release Mint Date

The largest animated NFT project on Cardano announced the mint date for their upcoming Jabi-Z mint on my stream last week: April 29th. This, of course, comes with a large disclaimer that

Dead Rabbits Resurrection Society Introduces Weapons

One of Cardano's largest NFT projects, DRRS, released a trailer for their upcoming Weapons mint, which is a big part of their MoleWars game mechanics. Ada Anvil, their tech partner, announced that they developed an innovative video layering system for this drop.

Frog Collective Struggles

After what looked like a promising leadup to The Frog Collective mint, the project struggled to sell out. After minting just over 1K of the total 10K collection, the team decided to reduce the mint price from ₳149 to ₳85, or ₳79 if you buy five or more. At the time of writing, 1.5K NFTs have been minted.

NEWM Launches a Record Store

NEWM has been building its Web3 music platform for a while now, and this week, it launched its Record Store.

Nucast

Nucast.io, a video streaming platform on Cardano, launched its Android app this week. Nucast hosted the first film festival on Cardano and has begun selling tokenized access to various films on its platform.

Adadomains

Adadomains, a marketplace for selling and buying domains on Cardano, launched on testnet this week.

NMKR Celebrates 2 Years

NMKR, Cardano's largest minting platform, is celebrating its 2nd anniversary with a live stream on YouTube.

NFT100 List Announced

The list of 100 creators and community leaders generated excitement but also some criticism, especially from the Cardano community, which did not receive a single mention.

Mallard Order Wins Twitter

The Mallard Order received the most mentions on Twitter, followed by The Ape Society and Chilled Kongs last week. JPG.store remains in a league of its own as the blockchain's largest NFT marketplace.

Cardano NFT Project Updates

Quick updates from NFT projects around Cardano and beyond

Whiskees NFT, a unique whiskey cask investment project, began minting last week and is inching closer to a sellout. They gave a brief update on their progress last Sunday.

Zeitaku Dragonz keeps impressing us with their FOREX bot performance, which has been reflected in the secondary market prices and volume.

Cornucopias are getting close to launching the first Microsoft Windows Cardano NFT app and recently released more information about the platform.

KWIC Released their KWIC token paper.

Nemonium, one of the more successful art projects on Cardano, announced an update for one of their collections using the $skull token.

Prime Kings released more information about their upcoming mint and a partnership with Battle Alliance.

Alley Katz teased some 1:1 artwork and announced a holders-only IRL event in LA.

Brave Dogs had their pull request accepted by Nami Wallet, which will allow users to reset their passwords without having to reset their entire wallet.

Platypus Cyberpunks announced several changes to their project as they move forward from their mint, which unfortunately did not sell out.

PXLz announced a partnership with S3, a cybersecurity provider.

Yolo Solos announced a partnership with Gingerbread Squad, which allows holders to use their NFT to play their survival game.

ADA Inmates continue to build excitement for their upcoming Cell mint, including the below 1:1.

Oremob reached ₳10M in volume on the secondary market in just over five months, a feat that few other Cardano NFT projects have accomplished. They also teased one of their BOSS songs at the JPG.store Twitter Space, but they will debut the song in its entirety at NFT NYC.

Claude has rebranded his art-focused Twitter space to fit the #RADR campaign.

SparkLabs launched its website, featuring video content from the most talented creators in the Cardano NFT space (including yours truly).

Wild Tangz announced a unique cross-chain partnership with Clay Pepe on Bitcoin Ordinals. More on Wild Tangz in the Premium Brew.

Rogue Galaxies appear to be inching closer to the release of their demo. The NMKR project received some criticism after pivoting the project due to a lack of funds earlier this year but seem to be committed to releasing a good, albeit limited, product.

Introverts announced Soul Portals last week, a part of their Artifacts series. The collection will mint May 13th-15th and cost 32-88 ADA.

Deadly Sins, a popular metaverse/gaming project on Cardano, released their Overworld map last week and announced a rebrand to take effect this Friday.

Prosperia, a once popular MMORPG game being developed on Cardano, seems to be going through a difficult period, with one of the founders disappearing for a long period of time and then recently declaring himself bankrupt when the community finally reached him. The community and the other founder are currently looking for ways to take ownership of the project.

Latest Cardano updates and blockchain developments

Lace, the official light wallet developed by Cardano/IOG, launched today. The first reactions from the community seem to be positive despite the usual criticism from a minority.

Cardano continues to boast superior decentralization statistics, with a recent Tweet highlighting this fact and showing a growing Nakomoto coefficient (a common measurement of blockchain decentralization).

Cardano's DeFi ecosystem continues to grow, and the community is taking notice.

Ouroboros Leios is a large upcoming upgrade to Cardano that gets overlooked due to other exciting developments (Hydra, Voltaire, etc.), but in this thread below, Vanessa highlights why it could mean a significant improvement to the blockchain.

MELD, a popular DeFi protocol on Cardano, identified a security issue but has since begun working with IOHK to address it.

Smart Contract Certifications could potentially increase the trust and quality of dApps on Cardano significantly when launched later this year. Apparently, the Lace team is working on the solution.

Grayscale revealed that Cardano is their largest SC platform ex-Ethereum fund holding.

Cardano Foundation's Education Alpha program seems to be going well, according to participants.

Cardano Whales remain optimistic and have bought ₳560M over the past month or so.

SushiSwap Hack

The popular DeFi platform was exploited for over $3M on April 9th.

Consensus 2023 Coming to Texas

One of the largest crypto and Web3 conferences in the world, Consensus, is set to begin on April 26th in Austin, Texas. Although many community members and creators will be there to represent Cardano, some concerns over Cardano's lack of presence there have been voiced in the community lately.

NFT NYC Is Here

The largest NFT conference of the year will take place April 12-14 in New York City. Projects and community members have been preparing for the event, including JPG.store in their latest Twitter space.

Bitcoin Whitepaper Hidden in McBooks

An independent blogger Andy Baio revealed that the Bitcoin whitepaper is hidden in every Apple MacBook computer running the latest macOS software.

“The file is found in every version of macOS from Mojave (10.14.0) to the current version, Ventura (13.3), but isn’t in High Sierra (10.13) or earlier.“

Cardano NFT volume has not been lower since 2021, a statistic reflecting the community's general sentiment. Secondary market volume continues to decline, and only a handful of NFT projects are not experiencing falling floor prices.

This is happening amidst a nice rally in the crypto markets, with $ADA breaching $0.41 for the first time since February. ADA whales continue to buy, but most of the liquidity is going towards new DeFi opportunities or NFTs on other chains.
