Weekly CNFT Brew
Your 15-minute catch-up on the CNFT world as you enjoy a nice brew. Through research and help from my community, I bring you CNFT news, market analysis, the ArtBeat, and more. Happy reading.
The Highlights
Pavia had an eventful week, starting with CardanoBuzz announcing that he is leaving Cardano and the project. They also gave a sneak peek at waterfront views, which had many fans excited, although there was some speculation as to what "we decided to add water" really meant. Finally, their COO was discovered to be Paul Manuel. Next week will continue to be busy as Pavia confirmed that they will start releasing their podcast on their YouTube channel soon.
The CNFT Awards were held for the first time this week. The YouTube broadcast was hugely impressive and really well received. SpaceBudz was voted as the CNFT of the year.
The DAO Roundtable is scheduled for this Friday at 7PM UTC. Guests will include Rats Dao, ADAO, Secret Goat Society, Acronym DAO, DegenTravis, King Dave from Derp Birds, and Ape Society. It will be hosted on Twitch.
Clay Nation released the second version of their whitepaper last week. The main highlight from the paper was the Clayverse, a virtual space for Clay Nation holders to hang out in with their 3D Clay Nation avatars.
Chilled Kongs announced their "Magic Kong" plans and airdrops of Magic Shrooms. This mutation mechanic will allow holders of a Magic Shroom and Kong to create a Magic Kong, an even more chill version of the original.
DeadPXLz had another busy week in terms of sales, updates, and drama. The PXL Explorer was updated to version 3, adding CIP-30 multi-wallet support and other great updates. The project also continued its sales trend and recorded multiple 10k+ sales and a week-high 40k sale. Finally, some drama hit the community when a "comma error" caused a valuable alien PXL to be listed for a few thousand ADA instead of 1 million ADA. Fortunately, the buyer returned the PXL to its original owner.
Alessandro teased some very exciting developments with lending contracts and project creators immediately chimed in with their thoughts on potential use cases, including Cash from Benjamin's Club.
Over Exposed announced when his Discord info will be released: 22/22/22, 2:22 PM UTC. The announcement will be made on stream with yours truly, but the CNFT community has been very excited about this incredibly talented artist coming to Cardano.
Boss Cat Rocket Club launched their Metaverse project last week: Boss Planet. According to the BCRC, the land sale sold out fast.
VeggieMates holds its second farmers market, featuring Paul Thomas from Good Charlotte, this week. After a highly successful first event, the community is looking forward to this one.
Many Successful Drops happened last week. Although not a complete list, a big congratulations go to all projects and artists that launched successfully.
Although not a sellout yet, Filthy Rich Horses have minted an impressive 6,042 NFTs at the time of writing and released their testnet marketplace
Stellar Hood announced their first expansion: "Journey to the Stars".
Copyright remains a big topic in the NFT space as the trend towards increased rights to holders continues. Zombie Chains announced expanded copyright terms for holders, following the standard set by SpaceBudz. Other notable projects that have been generous with copyright include The GOAT Tribe, Space Ape Club, and Degen Crypto Club.
CJ Lovelace made his YouTube debut with a fantastic series on the SpaceBudz project. The community was excited to see this highly respected collector talk about the project that he has invested so heavily in.
Thulu launched their project last week and is still minting. They are making the headlines for different reasons, however, as some drama has surrounded the project on social media.
Opensea experienced a serious phishing attack this weekend. Over $200 million worth of NFTs were stolen. Please be careful with all NFT-related emails you receive.
This Week
RatsDAO airdropped their $RAT to holders today after a snapshot was taken this weekend. The $RAT token has been verified on MuseliSwap. Read full details on the RatsDAO tokenomics here.
RetroSound is an exciting music project on Cardano that launched this weekend and is still currently minting. Not only are they great-looking animated retro cassette NFTs, but they are also 500 unique sounds created by the team.

DarkBudz is a derivative project of the infamous BrightPalz and Doodles on Ethereum. It pokes fun at the BrightPalz drama caused by their failed "!confirm" minting mechanics.

Charli3 Cuties is a project by Charli3, one of Cardano's oracle solutions. This collection promises utility in the form of utility staking.

Adamon is an RPG project that is launching its Genesis collection, which consists of 5 3D characters from their upcoming game. It's hard to ignore the obvious inspiration from Pokemon, but you can read their full roadmap here.

Fraktoid is one of Cardano's most interesting generative art projects, offering complex pieces of art made from hand-made mathematical equations.

Sacred Femmes is a beautiful collection that is created by women, to celebrate women. Their upcoming drop follows up their sold-out "ancestors" drop at the end of 2021.

Fort Gotten is an interactive and storytelling-driven CNFT project that has been around for a while and previously sold out their Ep00 and Ep01 drops. The team has proven itself to be innovative and capable and is also the team behind Trading Tent, a useful CNFT trading service.

In this brand new section, I will list some of the projects that have not launched yet and won't be minting this week but are on my radar. These are the projects that I'm keeping a close eye on in the near future and will write a more detailed description of each during mint week.
Market Analysis
It has been another difficult week for all markets. The Bitcoin fear & greed index is back to extreme fear as people look to de-risk their portfolios. Various external are in play, such as the impending quantitative tightening from the FED, which has people pessimistic and prepare for a further downside. ADA price is currently the lowest it's been in over a year.
In the CNFT markets, we are seeing a similar trend, although not as drastic with only -6% less volume compared to the previous week. The overall volume was aided with several popular projects dropping this week, including Boss Planet, JAR Heads, and Moonimals.
Considering the depressed markets, one could argue that the CNFT space has not been impacted as much as expected. Floor prices have remained relatively strong for many projects, especially those who made exciting announcements this week, i.e. Chilled Kongs.
JPG.store continues its market dominance, moving a whopping 81.13% of all ADA volume on the market.

The ArtBeat
This week, I wanted to give a shoutout to some of CNFTs' favorite community artists, both those who have moved to create their own projects and those who continue to focus on art for the community. Please make sure to give these community artists some love however you can.
Oodon started as a talented artist creating fan art as a member of the CNFT community. Today, he is one of CNFTs most beloved artists and the creative force behind Happy Hoppers Club.
Fauna is known for his derivative DeadPXLz 3D pieces, which just recently became a verified project on JPG.store. He was even offered to help the DeadPXLz project with 3D modeling of PXLz assets for their upcoming P2E game.
Tomass entered my radar when his work won the community art competition held for CNFTcon. He is an avid Clay Nation fan and regularly creates fan art pieces for that project. Most recently he joined the Filthy Rich Horses team, creating the very unique art for that project.
Fonnk makes high-quality custom NFTs for fans of various projects. His Twitter bio probably sums him up better than I ever could, except I would add that his work is incredibly good: "I make bizarre NFT on Cardano, sometimes meaningful."
Underrated
These are this week’s most underrated investment opportunities and artists. This is a highly subjective section so please DYOR
Investment Opportunity: Happy Hoppers Club
Speaking of Oodon, this week's pick for investment opportunity goes to Happy Hoppers Club. It is a project with a solid team, quality art, and a great reputation in the space. Without any red flags and working their way slowly into the top 50 projects of all time (in terms of volume), the 53 ADA floor price feels very low at the moment. It has come down from its ATH of 69 ADA and I would be especially confident in buying Hoppers at or below 50 ADA.
Artist: DendroRythms
The artist duo Mick + Wout is behind this fascinating generative art collection named DendroRythms. The project is based on a hand-drawn art installation called Memory Taffeta and is inspired by tree rings. The project is not only beautiful, but the minting process, which is built from scratch, is incredibly smooth and even allows you to customize your NFT.

Thor's Thoughts
Are NFTs really here to stay? Weren't they just last year's fad that people will abandon in 2022 as they turn their attention to the next exciting thing, such as DeFi on Cardano? Are NFTs going to 0, much like the ADA chart is looking like today?
No, and here is why. NFTs, much like Cardano, are fundamentally valuable. The technology solves problems that need to be solved. NFTs are more than JPGs that people use as status symbols. NFTs are a technology that empowers artists, offers community and opportunity, and improves market efficiency and security. We might experience rough seas along the way and take unexpected detours, but NFTs are here to stay.
